There’s this mirror that I’ve been meaning to deliver to my dad. Ahh…THE mirror.

It was probably 3 – 4 months ago when my dad bought this mirror but had no way to transport it back to PD. No cheaper way that is. The delivery charges would’ve cost more than the actual mirror itself. Let’s not get crazy and do something stupid like that. Instead, let’s find our own transportation, with no transporting experiences whatsoever, and do it ourselves. Phhttt. Easy. No sweat.

So Raja & I made some calls here and there to get a vehicle that’s big enough to fit the darn mirror. We ended up with a Storm. Great. Everything was a-okay. The mirror was lifted, fitted, and tied up to the vehicle. Excited, I volunteered to be behind the wheels. Before we left, I made one last glimpsed at the rear mirror for a final check. Smiling from ear to ear, we headed for PD. Five minutes later, we heard a “thump” followed by a distant “crash”. I looked at the rear mirror and saw nothing. Oh no, the mirror had slipped.

Oh no, oh no, oh no, my dad’s going to kill me. We pulled over and Raja went back to take a look. He turned back towards me and said “Baby, the mirror’s gone”. I was like yeah, I kinda figured. I mean mirror plus heavy fall equals broken. Simple maths. Then he continued,”No, baby, I mean it’s really gone. As in it’s not back here anymore”.

Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaattttt????!!! Oh no, oh no, oh no, I killed someone. The mirror literally flew out from the back of the car. God, who or what did it hit? Flashes of jail and prison mates were everywhere. My lungs were shrinking, my breath shortened. I’m having a panic attack. At this point I was talking gibberish. Raja kept his cool and assured me everything was ok.

He was totally lying. Everything was NOT ok. I’m going to prison for manslaughter. For a stupid mirror nontheless.

Dreadfully, we headed back to the crime scene. I saw plastic flying. The same plastic that was wrapped around the mirror. Oh boy. Then I saw smashed wood. The same wood framing the mirror. Oh no. Next, I saw bits and pieces of the shattered mirror. That’s all.

Wait. Something was missing. There was no traffic. No damaged car. No injured passenger. No ambulance. I’m totally jail-free. I am soooo lucky. Alhamdulillah.

Last week, Raja and I finally found a 100%-nonflying mirror-vehicle and delivered another similar mirror safely to PD. My dad made sure he called the proper authorities to clear the road before we left, just incase. Hmph!

I was on domestic mode this whole week. Had this sudden urge to sew. Shocking! If you truly know me, you’d automatically know that this would most definitely fall under a rare occasion. Extremely rare. Might even go as far as to categorize it under non-existence.

My old baju kurung kedah was nominated as the guinea pig for this project. Thought it needed some sprucing up. Personally, i love pearls. Any form. Here, I used rice pearls.

The final outcome of the sewing was…ermm…let’s just go with acceptable. Nothing fancy. No Wowww-out-of-this-world sewing skills involved. Suitable for people with lacking talent such as myself =)

DIY beading is something I’d see myself exploring into for many more years to come. Pretty interesting. You get to choose the colors you like, the types of beads you prefer, and create any design you want. It’s fantastic! I can faintly hear the humming voices of little imps as they dust the cobwebs off my right brain. Alright, fine, i may be a exaggerating a teeny bit there. But it really is something worth venturing into as a hobby.

Also, it’s a great way to pass time. Like I said, i spent the whole week on it. Wait, scratch that. What was i thinking putting myself as a benchmark for time and speed. It would probably just take an average person 1/10 of my total sewing time. Meaning, more clothes to glam up within a week!

Happy Beading!
