I’m proud to say that the purchase was beyond paramount importance. It was going to change my life in ways that I can never imagine. To tweak my flaws. To upgrade myself. To help me finally develop fine –or any– cooking skills. To….

Wait, I can’t do it. There’s no point pretending. I’ve got to be honest. Truth is, I was hungry. Massively hungry. Fasting month does this to people. Plus, there were many pretty pictures. Mouth watering colored pictures. COLORED pictures. My better judgment was compromised. AND dare I admit it, I was suckered into buying a cook book. This cook book.

But, I’ll show them who’s making who look dumb. I’ll show them who’s going to get the last laugh. I’m going to make my purchase worth every cent. I’m going to flip through the pages of that book and prepare at least one recipe a day. I’ve set my foot down and I won’t budge an inch. Ok, maybe at least one recipe a week. Point is, I’m going to make it happen. Even if it doesn’t taste like it should. Or look anything even remotely close to the pictures in that book. I will have the last laugh.

I made this for ’sahur’ earlier this morning. Yes, the toast looks burnt. Smart observation. But it wasn’t my fault. It was the toaster’s fault. And I think it’s contagious because the beef balls look burnt too. Cooking really is a mystery. Anyway, the important thing is Raja succeeded in finishing the darker, saltier version of that recipe. He loves me. So, HA HA HA. IN YOUR FACE COOK BOOK.

My old baju kurung kedah was nominated as the guinea pig for this project. Thought it needed some sprucing up. Personally, i love pearls. Any form. Here, I used rice pearls.

The final outcome of the sewing was…ermm…let’s just go with acceptable. Nothing fancy. No Wowww-out-of-this-world sewing skills involved. Suitable for people with lacking talent such as myself =)

DIY beading is something I’d see myself exploring into for many more years to come. Pretty interesting. You get to choose the colors you like, the types of beads you prefer, and create any design you want. It’s fantastic! I can faintly hear the humming voices of little imps as they dust the cobwebs off my right brain. Alright, fine, i may be a exaggerating a teeny bit there. But it really is something worth venturing into as a hobby.

Also, it’s a great way to pass time. Like I said, i spent the whole week on it. Wait, scratch that. What was i thinking putting myself as a benchmark for time and speed. It would probably just take an average person 1/10 of my total sewing time. Meaning, more clothes to glam up within a week!
